Amaranth Oil

Amaranth Oil is obtained from the seeds of amaranth (Amaranthus caudatus L.), a plant in the Amaranthaceae family, which grows in many regions of the world. The tiny seeds contain only 5 to 6 percent high-quality oil.

Characteristic properties


  • Abundant in unsaturated fatty acids, e.g. linoleic acid (omega-6, C18:2) and oleic acid (omega-9, C18:1)
  • High in the skin-nourishing antioxidant squalene
  • Rich in protective palmitic acid (C16:1)

Areas of application

Cosmetics

  • Used as a base oil, especially for rough, dry or irritated skin
  • Linoleic acid (omega-6, C18:2), oleic acid (omega-9, C18:1) and palmitic acid (C16:0) act as skin-related lipids.
  • Moisture retaining and replenishing
  • Ideal for use in sunscreen products thanks to its natural ability to absorb UV radiation
