Press cakes, flours and proteins
Bakery products, cereals, granola bars, smoothies and more: Our flours enrich these and other products of everyday life, for example with their high protein and fibre content. The flours are popular in vegetarian and vegan diets as well as a source of protein for athletes. Pets and production animals receive our press cakes as a protein-rich feed component. Both press cakes and flours arise from oil production. Press cakes contain a residual oil content of five to ten percent and many different amino acids.
Grinding the press cakes results in protein flours. From 40 percent protein content based on dry matter - this is a requirement of the Codex Alimentarius for plant proteins – we refer to flours and press cakes also as proteins, and to flours as protein powders.
Press cakes and flours stand for the guiding idea behind upcycling: The raw material is used holistically in all its components and according to the highest quality standards. This means appreciation for nature and a mindful use of its resources – mostly in our own Oil Mill Lipos in Bremen.
