Walnut Oil

Walnut Oil is a popular oil for salads and cold dishes. It is particularly rich in linoleic and oleic acids. In addition, it contains natural vitamin E.

The oil is extracted from nuts of the walnut tree. The nuts contain high levels of oil - on average 60%. Walnuts originate from Persia, however today the nuts are mainly grown in California as well as in Mexico and Central and South America.

Recipe of the month

Avocados with Walnut Vinaigrette


  • 50 g walnut kernels
  • ½ bunch of chives
  • 1 orange
  • 2 tb lemon juice
  • salt, pepper, sugar
  • 2 tb walnut oil
  • 2 avocados

Preparation:Chop 1/3 of the walnut kernels, cut the chives into little rolls. Halfen the orange, cut one half into slices, press out the other half. Per portion stir 1 tb orange juice with lemon juice, salt, pepper and sugar, finally add the oil. Halfen the avocados, peel and cut into slices, sprinkle with the sauce immediately and serve with chopped walnut kernels and chives rolls. Garnish with orange slices and whole walnut kernels – delicious !
