Bladder wrack (Fucus vesiculosus) is a marine, macroscopic brown alga with a length of 10 to 30 cm, rarely longer. The paired spherical air bladders, which provide buoyancy, are typical for this plant. The brown colouration is caused by the fucoxanthin pigment, which mask the green chlorophyll. The entire plant is commercially utilisable. The alga is found along the coastal regions of the North and Baltic Seas as well as the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
